An online dating company has spent the last few months surveying thousands of single Christians on their experiences in the church.
More than two thirds say they feel “socially anxious” about being single. Many of them say that the pressure to get married from other Christians makes them uncomfortable.
We’re going to talk about this on the Forum.
Have you ever felt the pressure to be in a relationship? Are you happy with your current relationship status?
Are churches too family-focused? What about singles groups? Do they feel patronising?
How do you find someone to marry anyway? Is there an imbalance between guys and girls for young adults in Christian circles? Would you consider online dating or church speed dating nights?
Jamie Curry might be the most famous teenager in NZ. She was hoping to get a hundred fans on the ‘Jamie’s World’ facebook page she set up last year. She’s currently got over 800 000. Her videos have a worldwide audience of 7 million people a week.
On the Forum this Sunday George talks to Jamie about what it’s like to go viral on social media, and how it’s changed her life.
We’ll take your thoughts on social media too:
Why do you think certain things go viral online?
What do you not like about social media? What things do people do on facebook which annoy you?
Is being connected to each other so much good or bad for our relationships in real life?
Are you addicted to social media?
Matthew West’s latest song, “Hello, my name is” has been doing really well in the Countdown this week. Matthew West has an interesting way of writing songs. He asks his fans to send him letters with stories from their lives. Stories of what God has done. Stories of what they’ve been through. Stories of what they’re dealing with right now.
He then turns those stories into songs. So for example, “Hello, my name is” is based on the letter of a drug addict who found his true identity in God.
If you were going to write a letter like this - what would you write about? We won’t turn your stories into songs but we will turn them into a talkback show!
Share your story with us by calling the Forum on Sunday night from 9pm.
Netsafe is saying that one in five NZ high school students report being cyber-bullied online, or via text message or photographs.
There’s a chance that schools will be given the power to search and seize cell phones and ipads to try and combat cyber-bullying.
What do you think of this idea? Is it going too far? Do you think it would help?
Have you ever been affected by cyber-bullying?
Be part of the conversation on Sunday night from 9pm.
If you missed last week’s Easter special check out the highlights below.
It’s an Easter special on the Forum! We’ll be chatting about what Easter means to YOU.
Part of the show will be a panel discussion. We’ll talk about a suffering saviour, the betrayal of Judas, trusting God’s plans, and believing in resurrection as something that actually happened.
Be part of the show on Sunday night from 9pm.
We talked about body image on Sunday: The struggles, the clothes, beauty and sexuality. Interesting stuff. You should check out the highlights!
Here they are...
Boy does the new Pope have a big job ahead of him!
On the Forum last Sunday we chatted about the issues the wider church faces and what you'd do if you were the new Pope. What would you chage?
The topic that came up most was gay marriage. Click on the audio to hear what was discussed.
The Life FM Support Drive kicks off on Tuesday so on the Forum this Sunday we’re talking about Life FM!
We want to hear your thoughts on the station. What does Life FM mean to you? Why do you listen to it? Have you been positively impacted by the broadcasts of Life FM?
On the Forum this Sunday we’re asking the question: Where has God been in YOUR life lately?
Maybe you’ve been through something difficult … or maybe you’ve had something really great happen in your life. What have you learnt about God, life and others through your experience?
Where is God in your life right now?
If you missed last week’s show on Lent and addictions you can check out the highlights in the section (scroll down).
Lent started this week. Are you giving up anything for it?
Some people use Lent as a time to break addictions – to give up things which they know are bad for them. So we’re going to chat about addictions more generally on Sunday’s show.
What are you addicted to? Is there something in your life that you just couldn’t go without? Maybe it’s smoking or drinking. Maybe it’s facebook. Maybe it’s lol cats.
Have you managed to break the hold of an addiction? How did you actually quit whatever it was you were addicted to? Did God play a part in the change you made?
