We're all highly talented, unique God-created bundles with God-given gifts and abilities. It takes a lot of different skills and personality types to build God's Kingdom. Have a look at the New Testament church in Acts. The church was spreading fast and the apostles were having a tough time dealing with crowd control issues. The apostles had to listen to a lot of disgruntled talk and tutting tongues because the Grecian Jews had a major beef with the Hebraic Jews for, well, eating all the beef.
'...The Grecian Jews among them complained against the Hebraic Jews because their widows were being overlooked in the daily distribution of food' (Acts 6:1 NIV). The apostles realised that trying to minimise the issue by ignoring it wasn't the best way forward. After all, they wanted the church to grow, not split. But they didn't want to spend all their time fixing it: '...It would not be right for us to neglect the ministry of the Word of God in order to wait on tables.'
So what did they do? They gave the responsibility over to seven others who had gifts fit for the task. Then they prayed for them. This way, 'the Word of God spread. The number of disciples in Jerusalem increased rapidly, and a large number of priests became obedient to the faith' (Acts 6:7 NIV). Crowd control in God's Kingdom means each member using their gifts fit for the tasks given to them!
So what now? God has given you specific gifts that He wants you to use to advance His Kingdom. What are they? Ask someone you trust to tell you what they think.
