The Civil Wars are former christian pop singer Joy Williams and John Paul White. They only formed in 2008 but already have an EP, a live album, an actual album & 2 grammy awards! Success right there. The debut album 'Barton Hollow' has almost sold half a million copies in the states and we've been thrashing the title track!
more info below from thecivilwars.com
In some ways, music doesn't get much more modest or minimalist than it is in the hands of The Civil Wars, a duo comprised of California-to-Nashville transplant Joy Williams and her Alabaman partner, John Paul White. They travel without a backup band, and on their first full-length album, Barton Hollow, the bare-bones live arrangements that fans hear on the road are fleshed out with just the barest of acoustic accoutrements. Each song is an intimate conversation, and no third wheels or dinner-party chatter are going to interrupt that gorgeous, haunting hush.
On the other hand, there's been something distinctly loud about the duo's introduction to the world, even prior to the album's release. Their signature song "Poison & Wine" was heard on Grey's Anatomy—in the foreground, in its entirety, over a key climactic montage, prompting hundreds of thousands of viewers to Google the mystery music. And they got a wholly unsolicited endorsement when America's biggest pop star gave The Civil Wars a seal of approval. After first tweeting her love for the duo, fellow Nashvillian Taylor Swift included "Poison & Wine" as a selection in her official iTunes playlist, saying, "I think this is my favorite duet. It's exquisite."
Swift took the words right out of the folk-country-Americana world's mouth. If it looks like The Civil Wars' appeal might cast a net that extends well beyond the typical audience for acoustically based music, that may be due to the inherent sensibilities Williams and White bring to their collaboration, which are quite disparate, if not necessarily warring. Both were gigging and recording on their own prior to teaming up a year and a half ago, neither solo career quite suggesting what their conjoined sound would turn out to be. "I do naturally bend pop," says Williams, who adds that she "grew up on Billie Holliday and The Beach Boys." White, meanwhile, was raised on Kristofferson, Cash, and Townes Van Zandt by his retro-country-favoring dad. "Somehow we're pulling from each other what we crave and what our strengths are," he says.
If the music ultimately leans more toward White's native South than Williams' northern Cali roots, he says, "I think Joy's got some hillbillies in her ancestry or something like that. There's a song on our record called 'My Father's Father' that we wrote on the day of the inauguration down in Muscle Shoals, not long after we got together. I started playing the guitar figure and she starting singing this amazing Appalachian kind of melody, and I'm like, 'Don't even pretend that you're the pop girl!' I don't know where this stuff is coming from, but she's drawing it from somewhere, and it's amazing."

Sandé first appeared in the public eye when she sent a video into Trevor Nelson's BBC Urban music competition, where on the video Sandé played the piano while singing one of her favourite songs, "Nasty Little Man". It was later announced that she had won the competition and Sandé was offered a record deal. However, once she met the management to finalise the contract for the recording contract, the management decided against giving Sandé a deal.
Her parents later sent 1Xtra a CD of her songs and Ras Kwame played the songs on his "Homegrown Sessions", and four artists that year were asked to do a show in Soho in the United States. She later met Shahid Khan, who has previously worked with Ms Dynamite and Bashy. Khan said "When we started together it took the music to something completely original. It took me out of my jazz piano niche, and it took him out of his urban scene. Then we started writing for pop people."
Sandé began by writing tracks for artists such as Alesha Dixon, Chipmunk,Professor Green, Devlin, Preeya Kalidas, Cheryl Cole, and Tinie Tempah. While trying to get into the music industry she was studying Medicine at the University of Glasgow, but she decided to stopped in her fourth year. Sandé always said that her education was the most important thing to her, stating if her music career was to fail, she has her education to fall back on. Sandé said that her manager, Adrian Sykes, waited patiently since she was 16, saying "Adrian really respects that I want to get an education behind me. He also knows my parents are keen that I finish university."'
Sandé first appeared in the public eye when she provided guest vocals on Chipmunk's hit single, "Diamond Rings" which she also wrote in 2009. A year later she returned again to the public's attention when she teamed up with Wiley on his comeback single, "Never Be Your Woman", the song became Sandé second top-ten single on the UK Singles Chart. It was later announced that "Never Be Your Woman" was a trail for Sandé with EMI Records to see how well the song charted, with the success the song had, Sandé later signed a record deal with Virgin Records.

ME & MOON is both personally and musically a huge leap ahead of Lydia's 2009 EP "Love Will Find A Way". A beautiful offering, the album includes artwork and songs from Lydia's own hands and heart.
The record's first single is Blind Boy, a bold step for the shy folkster that show greater lyrical confidence and personal strength, gained through the lessons learned from heartbreak. Written and recorded within a few days at the end of the project, Blind Boy is a revelation of strength and determination.
The ride thus far has seen Lydia share the stage with the likes of Boh Runga, Greg Johnson, Nathan King, and Luke Thompson, with support slots for Brooke Fraser on her Australasian 'Flags' tour, and jazz legend Diana Krall, and even a spontaneous song on stage with Jon Foreman (Switchfoot).
While the future remains a mystery, this young songstress looks ahead to the kinds of adventures and experiences that have shaped her music to date, eagerly awaiting the next step... whether taken in darkness, or the bright light of day.

God is building a home. He's using us all – irrespective of how we got here – in what he is building. He used the apostles and prophets for the foundation. Now he's using you, fitting you in brick by brick, stone by stone, with Christ Jesus as the cornerstone that holds all the parts together." Ephesians 2:19-22 (MSG)

Based out of Orlando, Bellarive strive for a progressive and worship sound, they’ve been touring for the last 3 years and their new album The Heartbeat is one of the reasons to be excited about worship at the moment.
"This whole thing is fairly new for us," says Sean Curran, the group's lead vocalist, keyboardist and principal songwriter. "We met at our home church and felt like kindred spirits pretty quickly.
"We felt like God was doing something in our hearts and in our community, so we just embarked on this journey to try to figure out what exactly that vision was."
"We were leading worship a lot together but hadn't really looked past that," Sean says. "We started getting these opportunities and God began to place these song ideas on our hearts, so we started meeting up once a week just to figure out what we should do with all this.
"Most music is meant to bring attention to the artist, maybe for some simple enjoyment. It's all kind of focused on the stage," Curran says. "Worship music creates a space for people to step into, to direct their attention, their hearts, their souls and their focus, to God.
