You can go to all sorts of things for comfort to help you feel better, like attacking that family-sized chocolate bar in the fridge. Or seeking attention from other people so you feel wanted and loved for a while. Or indulging in retail therapy.
These things may feel good at the time but can have real nasty consequences. Quick fixes don't get rid of the problem. It's like trying to jazz up a pair of shoes by customising them with stickers. Even if they brighten them up for a while, it's not long before they start peeling off. Your shoes end up looking worse. Eventually the stickers all fall off and you're just back to the same shoes, only with annoying gluey bits that you've got to pick off. The stickers really weren't worth it.
By giving into emotional quick fixes we can be left picking off more problems than we started with. Not gluey bits, but emotional scars and scabs. Yet God can comfort us from 'every side' of where it hurts.
So what now? Pray for God's help to resist the quick fixes. When you have a need to feel better, go to the Source of all comfort who never gives you nasty withdrawals, only His loving peace and security.
