David's five I wills.
'I will sing of your love and justice...' Psalm 101:1 NLT
Today we're going to take a look at the five 'I wills' of David in Psalm 101:
(1) 'I will sing of your love and justice...' When dealing with others, some of us are all mercy and no justice; others are all justice with no mercy. You need both. (2) 'I will be careful to live a blameless life...' How you behave impacts others more than you know. Even if someone doesn't hold the same beliefs as you, they can be won over to Jesus by your love and lifestyle. (3) '...I will lead a life of integrity in my own home'. If your family thinks you're joyless and judgmental, you're unlikely to impact them for Christ. David prayed, '...how I need your help, especially in my own home, where I long to act as I should' (Psalm 101:2 TLB). (4) 'I will refuse to look at anything vile or vulgar...' The media can be full of bad news, negativity and vulgarity. Do you need to feed yourself more of God's good Word and input? (5) 'I will not tolerate people who slander their neighbours...' How many times a day do you hear people moaning about or badmouthing about someone else? How about just for once you don't accept it. Even if they have a point, defend the person, correct their comments, then walk away.
So what now? Those are five practical 'I wills' to live by! We pray each one makes make a difference in your life, and in the lives of those you do life with.
