Holy Spirit power

'...The Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives...' Galatians 5:22 NLT

We all like our gadgets... mobile phones, iPods, Fitbits! But, these gadgets are useless without power. You can say the same about Christians - it's the power of the Holy Spirit that charges us up and helps us function.

Here are three ways in which the Holy Spirit works:

(1) He moves us. When Jesus was born it was the custom to have children blessed at the temple. Mary and Joseph didn't know it but an old priest called Simeon had been waiting his whole life for them to arrive. 'That day the Spirit led him to the Temple...Simeon was there. He took the child in his arms and praised God saying, 'Lord, let your servant die in peace! As you have promised, I have seen your salvation...' (Luke 2:27-30 NLT). The Holy Spirit will help you experience those 'destiny moments'! (2) He comforts us. Jesus referred to the Holy Spirit as the 'comforter' who would never leave us (See John 14:16). When you wake up worried about your day he whispers, 'I've got everything under control.' When you feel you can't go on, he says 'I'm right here with you.' You're not alone; you have God's help! (3) He protects us. Paul said to Timothy 'When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit' (Ephesians 1:13 NIV). When the enemy moves against you to 'steal, kill or destroy' (see John 10:10), pray, 'Holy Spirit, be my seal.'

So what now? Give thanks for Holy Spirit power to keep you charged in life!
