Lauren Daigle on the Bladerunner 2049 Soundtrack

Hans Zimmer and Benjamin Wallfisch are no strangers to motion picture music scoring, and together they've just scored the music for the motion picture, Blade Runner 2049.

What is unique about this release is the collaboration with Christian singer Lauren Daigle. Lauren has writing and performance credits for the feature song of the movie; a song titled, “Almost Human”.

In the Facebook Live video interview, conducted by Vanity, Lauren was candid about her scant experience with creating for the motion pictures. “I was really new," the singer confessed. "This is the first song I’ve ever written for a film before, so this was very new territory for me.”  After some collaboration with the creative team, the vision for the song and its message become much clearer for Lauren.  “In the Blade Runner story, there’s characters that don’t exactly amount to our human nature.  And there’s plenty of time that I long for something more, just like some of these characters would.  So for my involvement, it felt like I got to come out a little bit and respond to the nature of these characters…and [I] tried to pen a lyric to it.”

So Aaron Cole has been around for a little while (mostly featuring on tracks from the likes of DJ Maj and Hollyn), but last week he was signed to Gotee Records (run by Tobymac), and he's got a new song out, "Right On Time".

"It’s been a long time since Gotee has signed a hip-hop/R&B artist," shares TobyMac. "Honestly, I’ve just been waiting for the right person. And I'm really excited to say....we've finally found that artist in Aaron Cole. He is extremely gifted, dedicated to his craft and truly passionate about God. Aaron is READY, ready to use his gift of music to light it up in a way that only he can, and the timing is perfect."

Aaron Cole's 2016 EP If I Can Be Honest debuted top 30 on the iTunes Rap/Hip Hop albums charts, and was named the year’s Best Free Project by Rapzilla.

Switchfoot Bootleg Downloads

Even though Switchfoot's Looking For Summer Tour (with Brynn Elliott and Lifehouse) never made it to New Zealand, you can experience the nights through the magic that is bootleg recordings.

We had a hunch that these were going to be memorable evenings, so we recorded almost every show of the Looking For Summer Tour. A heartfelt thanks to all of you who came out and made these shows so incredible.

Basically, their sound guy hit record for every show, and you can download the raw audio mix for each show for about 10 bucks. I got the Boston one (cos they said it was one of their favourite shows of the tour) and I'm surprised by how good it sounds (it's not mastered like a normal live concert album, remember) so if you want to hear the new Switchfoot stuff live, this should hold you over until they grace our shores again.

"This song floors me every time I sing it. It convicts me and it lifts me. And I mean, to hear a group of people singing it, well, it's church. If there were ever a time we needed the church to be singing together about hope that transcends and unifies this is that time."
