Hungry kids shouldn’t be normal. Today we’re with Ian Foster from South Auckland Christian Food Bank, a ministry that began in 2008 with a prayer, a phone book, and a pastor’s nudge. Now with seven staff and 30+ incredible volunteers, they’re delivering around 160 food parcels a day across Tāmaki Makaurau, supported by 50+ agencies from churches to government services. Most of their kai is donated, and every parcel is a lifeline for a local whānau.
Ian’s heart is simple: give practical help today, and encourage budgeting support so families won’t need help tomorrow. He tells honest stories of relief at the doorstep, kids excited to see food arrive, and former clients who come back to volunteer.
