God's will is tops

Thursday, 20 November 2025

What is this 'God's will' that Christians speak about? Basically it's 'God's heart' and 'what God considers important'. We can find his will written in the Bible. And, to pray in sync with God's will, we can use his word (Scripture) as a basis. The Bible also says: 'We are certain God will hear our prayers when we ask for what pleases him. And if we know God listens when we pray, we are sure our prayers have already been answered' (1 John 5:14-15 CEV). If we've ever prayed for something and not seen it instantly materialise, we must understand that it may not be his perfect will for us or that it will happen in his (best) timing. So this may mean waiting...

In the meantime, here are some tips on God's word: (1) Speak it. Throughout the Old Testament, the prophets reminded God of his promises to Israel using their Scriptures. They didn't think God was forgetful... but they knew the value of speaking his word out loud. (2) Share it. Deuteronomy 6:6-7 sets it out. Go read it...to someone. (3) Obey it. Obedience to God's word is faith in action. Obedience is getting in line with God's plan; we'll then find that we are increasingly able to ask for things according to his will. Makes sense!

So what now? What are the things you've asked God for and are waiting for answers on? Focusing on God's will, in prayer, in speech and in obedience, will help you to see the answers appear more clearly.
