Jesus is Lord!

Friday, 28 November 2025

There's no better decision than choosing to believe that God raised Jesus from the dead, and then acknowledging that this resurrection has given us a new life with him (see Romans 10:9). There's nothing more life-changing than believing and declaring that 'Jesus is Lord'.

Let's look at what Jesus being 'Lord' means. Is it believing and declaring that Jesus is 'Lord' over all creation, the universe and beyond? Yes! Is it believing and declaring that Jesus is 'Lord' over our whole life? Yes! Is the second statement strangely more difficult to comprehend? Definitely! To look at the universe and acknowledge Jesus is Lord makes sense; we see it exhibited in the amazingness of the galaxies. But to believe he's Lord over us and our personality quirks and everyday challenges is harder. It's a choice to put him first and it will cost us. Choosing to live with God in charge of our lives takes courage.

Jesus tells us that part of his rescue of us means 'joining him in his death' (see Romans 6:4-5) - 'crucifying' our own long-held beliefs, fragile egos and unhealthy priorities; anything that may challenge him being Lord of our lives. It takes us purposefully confessing, daily, that Jesus is Lord. But it's worth it: because his perfect plan for us is always good for us.

So what now? Make time to chat with God. Is he fully Lord over your life? Ask him to help you give your life to him 100% and trust him to work beautifully.
