Made to be creative
God is our Creator and our Redeemer, and we're called to be 'conformed to his image' (Romans 8:29 NKJV) in both senses. To become more like our Creator is to become more creative. The Psalms often mention this creative command to 'sing a new song'. When we apply our creativity to serve his purposes, we're doing what God does best and loves most. And our heavenly Father takes deep pride and joy in it. The more we discover about God, the more we love him. And the more we love him, the more we need new ways to express our love.
Many of us don't consider ourselves to be 'creative'. We may have a narrow definition of creativity. We tend to think of creativity as a work of art, a new invention or unique business idea. But that's only a tiny slice. Creativity isn't only given to artists, inventors or entrepreneurs; it's given to every person. It's in the way we do our jobs and hobbies, conduct our relationships and live out our lives. In the fullest sense, creativity is any use of our imagination.
If God is infinitely creative and we are not just created in his image but called to be conformed to his image, then creativity isn't optional; it's a dimension of physical, emotional and spiritual maturity.
So what now? You were born in the image of your creative Father. He delights when you use your imagination and creativity to love him and reflect who he is. So, you, creative person... get creative!
