God's at the gate (2)
Here's good news - God's work is not limited to a certain time or place. An example is the story of Peter and John's encounter at a city gate with a man who couldn't walk. It all started out as a normal day for this man. It's likely the disciples would have passed him many times before. Perhaps he was simply part of the fabric of the streets they walked on. But on this particular day something different happened. An opportunity to do the work of God arrived, in a gateway that the disciples passed through almost every day.
Let's not draw a line as to where God can work (check out 1 Chronicles 29:11). The spiritual highs of life are great, but when we feel like we're limping through life, we need to know that God's healing hand stretches to the gate (or wherever we are) too. Just like the man who was healed, when we call out, God will provide.
Secondly, God's version of provision, no matter how slow, will get us back on our feet. Like the man, we may prefer to look for short term help, but God wants to do more than just provide a crutch for the issues that hold us down. Be bold today. Cry out to him.
So what now? Write down the places you're going this week. Who are the people you'll see there? Pray for opportunities to see people at the 'gate' and to help them see God.
