Keep your hands open (2)
There are many things in life that we just can't do on our own; sometimes we need help and comfort. At the expense of sounding clichd, this is the truth: God loves us, and wants to be that help and comfort for us. When we're at the stage where nothing we're doing is working, we may think God doesn't care about our problem because nothing's happening.' Right? Wrong. We need to take a step back, stop trying to control things ourselves and ask God to handle our challenges for us.
Perhaps we've asked for help, but we're not seeing much happen. It's continuing to ask for God's help that gets us through when we're not sure he's there. We need to be proactive in seeking God's comfort and help. We've been promised, 'Don't be afraid, for the Lord will go before you and will be with you; he will not fail nor forsake you (Deuteronomy 31:8 TLB).
The greatest gift Jesus gave to the world is the Holy Spirit, and one of his names is the Comforter. Jesus said, 'I will ask the Father and he will give you another Comforter, and he will never leave you' (John 14:16 TLB). Let's keep our hands open to receive the comfort of the Holy Spirit in every situation.
So what now? Thank God for the Holy Spirit, your Comforter, in your life. Keep your hands open to receive his help. Trust that he's keeping you safe and working on your behalf. Ask a trusted Christian friend to stand with you.
