Rewrite the script
Let's stay with Caleb, the spies and the Promised Land. Caleb has the guts to defy the people of Israel, and their spies, who've declared that reaching the Promised Land isn't going to be a walk in the park - even though God had told them it was theirs for the taking. In the face of their shouty pessimism, Caleb has to do some serious rewording.
The group said: 'They're stronger', 'we're like grasshoppers', 'we're not able'... became 'Let us go up at once and occupy it', 'We can certainly do it'. See what he did? He didn't even say, 'Let's go fight them' - he said, 'Let's walk in'. A life-filled with faith beats back lifeless words. Caleb knew that God had told them they could do it, so he kept on talking the way God talked. Words can be a boost to our faith when we're down or think we haven't got what it takes.
Also, let's talk about ourselves the way God talks about us: his words for us are: beloved, chosen, with a spirit of power, love and a strong mind (2 Timothy 1:7). Let's rewrite the script, in our thoughts, in the voice we use to talk to ourselves, in conversations with others. Let's get rewording and see what it does to our faith.
So what now? Today, take on this 'giant': the voice you use to talk to yourself. Keep a tally of the most common words you use. See if they are mostly criticising or talking yourself down. If so - walk in and occupy your thoughts.
