Stand on God's word (4)

Thursday, 22 May 2025

When we feel inadequate for the job. When we're given a job or a task we feel unqualified to do, it's an opportunity for God to show himself as strong on our behalf (see 2 Chronicles 16:9).

So, let's fix our minds on our all-powerful, always-present, loving heavenly Father. 'Our Lord, we belong to you. We tell you what worries us, and you won't let us fall' (Psalm 55:22 CEV). And, let's feed our faith. 'Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God' (Romans 10:17 NKJV). Let's spend more time with Jesus: 'If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. This is to my Father's glory, that you bear much fruit' (John 15:7-8 NIV).

And, let's stand on God's word: 'Think of what you were when you were called. Not many of you were wise by human standards...influential...of noble birth. But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise...the weak things of the world to shame the strong...the lowly things of this world...the despised things - and the things that are not - to nullify the things that are, so that no one may boast before him' (1 Corinthians 1:26-29 NIV). 'His power at work in us can do far more than we dare ask or imagine' (Ephesians 3:20-21 CEV).

So what now? On your own, you may not be up to the task. But in partnership with a loving, powerful God, you're more than equal to the challenge!
