The will of my Father
Sometimes we can be unsure if we're doing the right thing in our Christian walk. We may occasionally get those lightbulb moments where we're prompted by the Holy Spirit to act. But, even when we feel called by God to do something, we can still question. It seems easier to drift along, hoping he'll give us directions at some point.
God has a plan for us - much better than what we'd plan: 'Just as the heavens are higher than the earth, my thoughts and my ways are higher than yours (Isaiah 55:9 CEV). So, it's wise for us to position ourselves to hear his plan. And he promises, 'I will point out the road that you should follow. I will be your teacher and watch over you' (Psalm 32:8 CEV).
Putting God's will above our own means learning to surrender our will (our ways and desires) to his will (his ways and desires). This can cost us (financially or with time or reputation). It can also be uncomfortable or inconvenient. But it's worth it: 'No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined the things that God has prepared for those who love him (1 Corinthians 2:9 GWT).
So what now? Jesus himself said: 'I do not seek my own will but the will of the Father' (John 5:30 NKJV). Ask God for three things you can do for others this week: one that costs time, one that's inconvenient and one that's outside of your comfort zone.
