You're not alone (1)
We can be doing great when all of a sudden something comes along and throws us off guard. We weren't promised that being a Christian would guarantee a life free from sadness and drama. Sometimes God doesn't get rid of the 'rubbish,' but gives us the peace we need to get through it (and learn from it), instead.
What can we do? The apostle Paul writes, 'Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God's peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus' (Philippians 4:6-7 NLT).
When we pray, the Holy Spirit, God's gift sent in Jesus' name, will provide us with peace right through the 'rubbish' life throws at us. 'The Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you... Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid' (John 14:26-27 NIV). 'Sent in Jesus' name' means it's as if Jesus himself is doing the reassuring, the teaching and the peace providing. Brilliant.
So what now? Send a message (email, Twitter, Facebook, whatever) to someone who needs peace through a challenging time. You could even send them the John 14:26-27 passage, reminding them that with the Holy Spirit they are not alone.
