You're not alone (2)

Hopefully we have an amazing support base of people in our life. But even if we don't... We. Are. Not. Alone. God may feel far away, but the opposite is true. God is with us, through his Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is one of the best gifts to the world. He's not some weird ghost guy who sort of knows God. And he's not like a wifi network we connect to whenever we feel prayerful and Christian-y. The Holy Spirit is an equal Person in the Trinity, and he lives in everyone who believes that Jesus Christ is the Lord.

Seriously, how exciting is that? Jesus staying with the disciples forever would have been amazing in itself, but his leaving started a new and better phase in God's plan. When Jesus ascended into Heaven, the Holy Spirit came to God's people, and not just for a little while - forever. The Holy Spirit does so much: he comforts, teaches, sometimes whispers to us, prays on our behalf and does miraculous things through us.

When we don't know what to do, we can ask and the Holy Spirit is available to guide us. He can speak to us: through Scripture we're reading, a persistent idea, or through something a friend says. We're not alone, unless we want to be. Drop the 'ghost' idea - this is a Person, right here and now, with us.



So what now? You're not alone. Today, make the effort to reach out to someone who is, and share the Holy Spirit with them.
